It’s the beginning of the new year, and a lot of people including myself are searching for new ideas, new relationships and new ventures that will make the year a lot better and fulfilling than the past years. If you’re in your mid 20’s, it’s especially interesting for you as you have to find more ways to improve the quality of your life. Oh and at that age if you’re not thinking big for the next adventure of your life, this post is for you. It’s interesting to know that there are people who could care less about their day let alone the next year. With all that being said, I’ve put together 8 very important things that you should do in the new year.

  • Start Eating the Right Way

If you’re like me, chances are you ate a lot of unhealthy food all through the past year and you haven’t been wise enough to know that you should monitor what goes into your body. Or perhaps you actually know what you should eat, but you haven’t been disciplined enough to Do The Right Thing. Now’s the time to get your shit together.

It’s more like a call to several actions that you should have already been taking. There’s no such thing as “New Time” plus clocks and calendars are nothing but mental jail cells with the trappings of age, saggy faces and timely or untimely graveyard visits. Anyways.. Eat right. The length of your lifespan is definitely affected by the result of the things you put inside of your body, so once again. Do The Right Thing.

  • Take Exercise Seriously!

Lets face it, you’re not going to all of a sudden magically be a gym rat or be disciplined in your working out. Things just don’t work that way. Character is built and habits are developed on. People say that it usually takes about 21 days to be addicted to stuff. 9 times out of 10, people can’t even get past the second week, let alone the 1st week. Also, for some reason, a lot of you think that the new year brings you super mind enhancement powers that let’s you all of a sudden be the most disciplined person ever.

Time has proven that that’s an insane notion and people who think like are probably lazy. Anyways.. enough of the ranting. Workout guys.. get in the gym or just run a few miles each week.. or take a walk instead of driving. Starting now will make the difference and you can be sure to keep the good habits going as the year continues.

  • Travel!!

Travelling is a pretty big deal to a lot of people. Unfortunately there’s also a pretty large group who have chosen not the see the benefits it presents.

Travelling is a good thing. For starters, if you go by plane you get to see the skies, if you’re travel by driving, you get to discover new places and if you travel by the way of the sea, well you get to see the beauty in the oceans and beyond. Before the year runs out, you should take a trip to a place you’ve never been. Do it for yourself. Explore the world because there’s so much more to gain in new discoveries. I mean who just stays in one place forever. If you have the means to make a trip. Do it!

  • Make a New Friend

They say you only get a handful of legit friends in a lifetime. The statement is true for some, for others maybe not so. Either way, friends are jewels especially when they are genuine. The beauty of friendship is that it can be built upon and it happens all within the boundaries of your consent. All through the year, chances are that you’ve met new people and gained new acquaintances. It’s time to make some of those acquaintances legitimate relationships. If you feel like some of them would fit right in your circle, DO IT. Oh and make sure that these friends are people who will challenge you in every way possible. Matter of fact, you should make relationships with people who you have a thing or two to learn from. At this point in your life, you should only be friends with people who will add to the quality of your life.

  • Cut Off Bad Relationships

Think about it this way; you don’t need to wait till the new year to get rid of all the crap someone else has shown you all year. A bad relationship is like slow poison, it’ll eat you up and then probably kill you. Chances are this year, you’ve had to bend your back and go above and beyond for people who have barely shown you the appreciation you deserve. Or maybe, you’re involved in a bad romantic relationship, there’s no better time to rid yourself of all that bad energy than now. So do whatever it takes. Get your life together. It’s only as complicated as you make it.

“A bad relationship is like a broken mirror”

  • Start Making Your Dreams a Reality

Hot Air

If you have something you feel you were born to do, there’s no need to waste anymore time trying to find the perfect time to start it. A lot of people never get their ideas going simply because they think too much about the process and never really get anything done.

clockThe year is literally just beginning. You need to start doing whatever you have to in order to make your dreams a reality. In shorter words, WAKE UP!, Plan!, and take action. Time is no one’s friend and as earlier stated, clocks and calendars are nothing but mental jail cells with the trappings of age, saggy faces and timely or untimely death.

  • Start Changing the World Now

world-1

No one is too big or too small to change the world and no action is too small to make a change in the world. If you haven’t thought about the world we live in all year, you might need to start doing that right now. The reality is that our world is what we make it. Certain things are bound to happen, however, every little thing matters. You can start by being kind to someone, or even by recycling ( I hear it’s a really good thing :). The beauty about people who  believe they can affect change in the world is not that they go about looking for the biggest way to do it, it’s that they look for every single moment in time to make a difference big or small.

In the very popular words of Eric Clapton;

“Baby if I could change the world.
Baby if I could change the world.
Baby if I could change the world.”

  • Change Your Views On Gun Control

I’m not exactly sure what your views are on gun control. But if you are anything like a newborn baby then chances are you have a heart of gold and you don’t want to see anymore people die over senseless gun violence and the random murderous musings of crazy but probably not so crazy people. Seriously! It’s crazy to turn on the news and hear that some random dude shot up an entire classroom for no apparent reason. So whatever your views are, the point is that you value human life enough to know what the right thing is. So DO THE RIGHT THING!

These are 8 Very Important Things That You Should Do in this new year. If you have other things that you feel are necessary, leave them in the comment box below.
